PS3のメモリ容量
後藤氏によると、PS3のメインメモリは128MBであるが、これがメインメモリ専用なのかメディアプロセッサと共有なのかはわからないとしている。
しかし、はっきり言ってこれが共有メモリだったらふざけんなという話であり、たぶん共有ではないと思う。久夛良木氏が公言しているように、PS3世代ではフルHDが標準となり、さらに4K*2Kの解像度へと移行していきたいと。それをソニーが先導するのだということであり、当然PS3でフルHDに完全対応していく。
これでもし、128MBのメモリが共有だったら、そもそも1080pではフレームバッファだけで一枚8MBいるわけで、Zバッファ、テクスチャ等で半分近くは占有しっぱなしという話であり、残りのメモリ量をプログラムとデータはやりくりしてくれということで、何がCellだ、世界最高の頭脳だという話である。一切のソフトでFSAAすらあり得ないことになる。
そもそも、Cellがいくら外部メモリの帯域をが少なくてもパフォーマンスを発揮できるアーキテクチャであるとはいえ、Cellの演算性能に比してもともとメインメモリの帯域は不足気味で、アンバランスな構成なのに、さらに帯域を圧迫するのかと。何のためにCellの開発と製造設備に莫大な資金をつぎ込んだんだと。
というわけなので、たぶんPS3のメモリは128MB+128MBで計256MBだと思います。思います。

Greetings everyone, This webpage is excellent and so is how the matter was expanded. I like some of the comments as effectively though I would favor all of us hold it on topic so as add worth to the subject. Will probably be additionally encouraging to the writer if all of us could share it (for a few of us who use bookmarking providers corresponding to a digg, twitter,..).

Great points…I would observe that as somebody who really doesn’t comment to blogs much (in fact, this can be my first put up), I don’t assume the time period “lurker” may be very flattering to a non-posting reader. It’s not your fault at all, however maybe the blogosphere could give you a greater, non-creepy title for the 90% of us that take pleasure in reading the posts.
