新しい歴史教科書
とりあえずざっと読んでみる。書籍としてなかなか面白かった。自分は特に歴史に関しての知識は多くないほうなので、評価などを出来る立場にはないが、一般人として感想を述べておく。
全体のバランスで言うと、近現代史については実に見事なものだと思うが、特に中世以前については考古学的論証に多くを割かず、伝承を紹介する記述が多すぎると言うほど多いのが気になった。これについてはちょっと教科書としてはどうなのかと疑問がある。もっと全体にボリュームがあるならばこれはこれで構わないのだが。
検定後であるということもあるのかも知れないが、特に別段おかしな記述がなされているとも思わず。確かに客観性を欠いて主観的ではないかと思われる部分が一般的な教科書に比べて多く見られるが、それとて特に日本を過大評価したり美化したりというほどではない。事実に基づいた記述がなされていると思う。
しかしまあ、大の大人が読んでまともな本であるにしろ、多少文章が乱雑だったりする部分があり、評価が低くなるのは仕方ないのかなあという気もする。とはいえ教育現場での使用に堪えないようなものではないだろう。十分に教科書としての役割を果たすのではないか。
戦争が起こったり、激化した背景などは我々は教育課程ではほとんど学習していなかったことを知る。それらをまともに取り上げているというところはこの教科書のいいところだと思う。既に教育課程で歴史の学習を終えた人も軽く目を通しておいてほしい本だ。
