日本政府の調査捕鯨に対して国際捕鯨委員会で17カ国が抗議の声明を発表したそうだが、根本的に食肉輸出国が食肉業界の意向を受けてやっていることであり、この不当な圧力に対して絶対に屈してはならないと考える。
鯨が1匹当たり毎日1トン近くの海洋生物を食料として消費しており、鯨だけ捕らないことで海洋の生態系バランスは崩れていくと考えられる。やがて今回抗議した国々は、その影響でマグロやカツオ、鮫なども数が減ってくればそれも獲るなと言い出すのは既定路線と思われる。
鯨の食料の主たる鰯や鯖も日本人にとっては最重要なタンパク源のひとつであり、鯨が増えすぎることは日本人にとって死活問題でもある。
もともと捕鯨委員会が捕鯨を止めたのは鯨の数が減って絶滅の危機に瀕し、安定的に獲ることが出来なくなったためにその回復を目指してのことだ。鯨が知能が高いからかわいそうとか食べるのは野蛮という理屈が通るなら今すぐ牛肉豚肉鶏肉羊肉を食うのをやめてみろというのだ。
イスラム教の人間は他国の人間が豚を食うのをヒステリックに批判したりしないし、ヒンドゥー教における牛もそうだ。これは文化の衝突ではなく経済的な策略であるということを理解しなくてはいけない。
根底にあるのは白人の差別文化であり、それがこれほどまでの日本人軽視へとつながっているということ、そしてそれに動物に対する差別が加わってこのようなことが起こってくるのではないかと思うのだがどうだろう。
