【ゲーム】任天堂が珍しくアグレッシブな件
今年の末ごろに発売されると思われる任天堂のゲーム機「Wii」の販売計画が今期600万台と発表された。これは同時期のPS3の出荷予定台数と同等で、WiiのほうがPS3よりも多く出荷されることを示唆する。
となると、生産台数、キャパシティもPS3よりWiiのほうが多く、両者の最終的な普及目標からすれば、むしろPS3以上のアグレッシブな垂直立ち上げを計画していることになる。
実際両者ともスタートはかなり売れるだろうが、どうひっくり返しても生産出荷台数以上には売れないわけで、2007年にかけての短期的にはWiiの普及台数がPS3を上回る公算が高くなってきたと言えると思う。特に日本に於いてはXbox360がライバルとなり得ない分、よりWiiのシェアが高くなるだろう。
ただ、わずか4～6ヶ月のうちに600万台を売ろうというのだから、失敗して大幅に計画を下回る可能性もそれなりにあるはずだ。これだけ大量に生産するということが損失に繋がるという可能性があるわけだ。あの任天堂がそういうリスクをとってくるということに驚きを感じる。
今回は発売が本当に同時期ということで、シェアで勝てなければサードパーティを引っ張れないという判断もあるだろうし、昨年からのニンテンドーDSの供給不足への反省もあるのだろうが、ここまでとなると任天堂の恐ろしいほどの自身の持ちようが見えてくる。あくまで任天堂は任天堂、堅実な商売の範囲で判断しているのではないかと思っている。
