【PC】「逆Hyper-Threading」？
PINUPS - 上田新聞 blog版さんより。
マルチコアのCPUを1つの高速なCPUのように使うことが出来るらしく、しかも動作中に切り替わるらしい。本当かよ、と言いたくなるような記事。仕組みはどういう風になっているんだろうか。
もちろんオーバーヘッドは相当程度あるのだろうし、シングルスレッドがどの程度速くなるのかと言えば3割も4割も速くなるようなものではないとは思うが、デュアルコアなどから動作中にダイナミックに切り替わるとなるとこれは全体のパフォーマンスを押し上げるものになるだろう。もちろんゲームなど高速シングルコアのほうが圧倒的に良さそうなケースでは最大限の効果があるだろうし、案外Conroeと良い勝負になるかもしれないという期待を抱かせるような隠し球だ。
情報はあんまり無いんで、これがどういう実装なのかまるでわからないが、ただ、既に実装されているというところからするとコアよりも外のレイヤーでエミュレーションの仕組みを実装しているような気はする。これだと本当にパフォーマンスとしてはあまり大したことはなさそう。もしコア内部に高度な連結機能を持っていてコア同士が密に結合しているんだったら拍手する。
