GeForce7900GSが発売されたみたいですね
これまでの7900GTに近い性能で手頃な値段ということでかなり魅力的な存在。ATIは80nmのRADEON X1650XTと1950PROを10月に投入するらしいが、両者とも直接の競合ではない。80nmとはいえ動作周波数も高いし消費電力対パフォーマンスでNVIDIAに追いつけるとも思えず。
個人的には、VISTAを見据えると、なまじ高解像度な環境のため、VRAM256MBでは不十分な可能性が高いので選択肢は限られる。今のところ明らかになっている512MBの製品はGALAXYのみだが、これがまた魅力的で、ZalmanかCoolerMasterのクーラーを搭載したコア540MHz、メモリ1.5GHzのOC品。最悪条件でも7900GT以上の性能ということになるわけで、これが3万円代前半で販売される。日本語版のVISTAのリリースまでまだ日があるとはいえ、買えばとりあえず高性能を享受できるわけだから買ってしまってもいいかと思ってしまう。
コストパフォーマンスで言うとX1900XTもいいけれど、ネックは消費電力。場合によっては不安定になったり、電源やケースも交換ということも考えなければならないと思うとこれは買えなかった。
そろそろ買い時ですかね。G80も気になる頃ではあるけれども。
